Camellia sinensis var. sinensis cv. 'Longjing 43' (LJ43)

'Longjing 43' is an esteemed clonal variety meticulously chosen from the Longjing population by the prestigious Tea Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. The most prominent characteristic of 'Longjing 43' is its robust budding ability, early germination, and high-density germination. This variety exhibits early germination, typically occurring in the middle to late March during the budding period of spring. However, it is worth noting that its tenderness is relatively lower compared to other varieties. In terms of chemical composition, a dry sample of one bud and two leaves from the spring harvest contains approximately 3.7% amino acids, 18.5% tea polyphenols, 12.1% total catechins, and 4.0% caffeine.
